Implementing single sign-on (SSO) with Liftoff

Updated: Aug 21

Text: "Implementing Single Sign On (SSO)"

What is Single Sign On all about?

Single Sign On (SSO) is a method in which users can login to multiple platforms using one set of credentials.

What are the benefits of SSO?

Many corporations already have a local intranet or have assigned logins for their employees to use internally. By utilizing SSO, you can reduce the risk for password fatigue; a condition that can lead to increased stress due to users having to remember several different passwords. In addition to increased stress levels, users that have to maintain several different passwords are also at a greater risk of repeating passwords and having less secure passwords. Support and IT costs can also be reduced, because there are less calls and inquiries about lost passwords.

How does SSO work?

Liftoff exchanges information via Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML). Essentially, Liftoff acts as a service provider and the user's side acts as an identity provider. Liftoff sends an authentication request to the identity provider and the identity provider returns the user's credentials. You can think of it as a secret electronic handshake. Everything exchanged is encrypted and secure.

So what do you need to set it up?

If you're interested in establishing an SSO connection for your accounts and sites, please reach out to your account management team to start this process.
